What is GRE?
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test designed to measure the Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing skills of students aspiring to pursue graduate studies abroad. Most universities, especially in the US, require GRE scores as part of the admission process.
- Test Format: Entirely computer-based, with no two test-takers receiving the same set of questions.
- Scoring: The test is scored on a maximum of 340 points (Verbal + Quant) with an additional 0-6 score for Analytical Writing.
- Attempts: GRE can be taken 5 times a year with a minimum 21-day gap between attempts.
- Section Adaptive: Performance in the first section determines the difficulty level of the next section.

GRE Exam Pattern and Structure
The GRE General Test spans 3 hours and 45 minutes, divided into six sections, with a 10-minute break after the third section:

The Analytical Writing section will always be first. The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections may appear in any order after the Analytical Writing section.
Section-level Adaptation
The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections are section-level adaptive. The first section of each measure (i.e., Verbal and Quantitative) is of average difficulty. The difficulty level of the second section of each of the measures depends on your overall performance on the first section.

How to Register for GRE?
- Visit the official ETS website (www.ets.org) and create a My GRE Account.
- Select a test date and location that suits your schedule.
- Complete the registration process and pay the required fees
Cancellation Policy
- Cancel 4+ days before the test to receive a 50% refund.
- For cancellations closer to the test date, no refunds will be issued. Rescheduling is recommended over cancellation.

Test Day Essentials
Ensure your ID documents meet the following criteria:
- Original and Valid (expired documents are not accepted).
- Government-issued and recognized by your country.
- Matches the name used during registration.
- Includes a recent photo and your signature.
Post-GRE Exam Guidance
- View your scores immediately.
- Decide whether to cancel or keep your scores (cancelled scores can be reinstated within 60 days for a $50 fee).
- Send scores to 4 universities for free on the test day. Additional score reports cost $27 per university.
- Use the ScoreSelect option to send only your best scores to universities.
